Terry Phillips


Journalist Terry Phillips is a veteran war correspondent. From the melting of the Iron Curtain to the implosion of the Soviet Union, he reported major stories for CBS News, National Public Radio and NBC/Mutual Radio among others. His international datelines have included Moscow, Baghdad, Kabul, Mogadishu, Sarajevo, Port-au-Prince and Prague. Prior to working overseas, Phillips practiced his trade in the San Francisco Bay Area as a producer and reporter. He's also reported a multitude of domestic stories from coast to coast. Terry left daily reporting to serve as a public affairs executive for the wireless telecommunications industry. While at Omnipoint Communications (now part of T-Mobile), he led a team of PR professionals in creating innovative print and broadcast products including the highly acclaimed book, “Wireless Etiquette.” He also served as an international advocate for the GSM Association to promote the Global System for Mobile communications – the world’s leading wireless technology. Now living in Northern California, Phillips works as an author, lecturer, commentator and news analyst. He is an alumnus of Santa Clara University with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He did graduate studies in mass communications at San Jose State University, playwriting at the University of Southern California and the law at McGeorge in Sacramento. In addition to his native English, he speaks French fluently and can get by in Spanish, Russian, Greek and Armenian. In his free time, Terry is working on a cure for HDD (Humor Deficit Disorder) and CPSS (Chronic Political Stupidity Syndrome). Hope springs eternal.
