Originally written in 1918 in Armenian, The Diyarbekir Massacres and Kurdish Atrocities is an important account of the 1915 genocide of Ottoman Armenians and Assyrians. As Mugerditchian states, it is based on a number of eyewitness accounts, including his own testimony, which reflects not only the painful reality of the Armenian Genocide, but also the post-WWI concerns of many Armenian intellectuals for the creation of a separate Armenian state on former Ottoman territories. The English translation of this book was first sent to the United States Department of State in 1919. This is the first publication of that English translation.
