This book is the first Armenian translation of the main philosophical work of the great Irish philosopher George Berkeley (1685-1753). Here his main philosophical concepts are stated, by which the author for the first time in the history of philosophy seriously attempted to reject the existence of matter and external things, which I. Kant called "the scandal of philosophy". Furthermore, some of Berkeley's ideas particularly concerning the problems of space, time and motion, were so novel and concordant with the achievements of theoretical physics on the boundary of 19-20th centuries that K. Popper called Berkeley "the precursor of Mach and Einstein".

This publication is specific in that it includes thoroughly collated texts of the first and second English editions with comparative notes with the preserved manuscript.

Սույն գիրքը մեծանուն իոլանդացի փիլիսոփա Ջորջ Բերկլիի (1685-1753) գլխավոր փիլիսոփայական երկի աոաջին հայերեն թարգմանությունն է։ Այս աշխատության մեջ ամփոփված են նրա հիմնական հայացքները, որոնցով հեղինակը փիլիլսոփայության պատմության մեջ աոաջին անգամ լրջորեն ձգտում էր հերքել մատերիայի և արտաքին իրերի գոյությունը, ինչը Ի. Կանտը անվանեց «փիլիսոփայության սկանդալ»։ Բացի այդ, Բերկիի որոշ գաղափարներ, մասնավորապես տարածության, ժամանակի և շարժման խնդիրների վերաբերյալ, այնքան նոր էին և համահունչ 19-20 դդ. սահմանագծում տեսական ֆիզիկայի նվաճումներին, որ Կ. Պոպերը Բերկլիին անվանեց «Մախի և էյնշտեյնի նախակարապետ»։

Տվյալ հրատարակությունը աոանձնանում է նրանով, որ պարունակում է այս աշխատության աոաջին և երկրորդ անգլերեն հրատարակությունների հանգամանալից համադրված տեքստերը՝ պահպանված ձեոագրի հետ համեմատություններով հանդերձ։
