The Proverbs of Solomon is a collection of moral and religious teachings attributed to King Solomon. This book belongs to the genre of so-called wisdom literature that flourished throughout the Ancient Near East. Unlike other books of the Old Testament, it does not address the history or future of the Israelites. Instead, it offers personal guidance on living a virtuous life under God’s direction.

According to the historians Koryun and Movses Khorenatsi, Proverbs was the first book of Scripture to be translated into Armenian by Sts. Mesrop Mashtots and Sahak Catholicos. This edition features the Classical Armenian text of Sts. Mashtots and Sahak alongside an updated edition of Lancelot Brenton’s Septuagint (LXX) translation.
