Ամոս ու Պորիս «Նիւ Եորք Թայմզ» օրաթերթի բարձրագոյն մրցանակները շահած է իր պատմութեան ինչպէս նաեւ նկարազարդման համար։ Սիրելի հեղինակը, Ուիլյամ Սդայկը, ճանչուած է իր գեղեցիկ լեզուին, համակրելի տիպարներուն եւ գողտրիկ գծագրութիւններուն համար։ Իր ընտանիքը հայերէն թարգմանութեան արտօնութիւն տուաւ Քարեն Չթճեան Բրեսդիին որովհետեւ ան սիրահար էր գրքին հարուստ բառամթերքին ու հաճելի պատմութեան։ Սդայկը երբէք չէր թերգնահատեր իր երիտասարդ ընթերցողները, եւ իր այս պատմութիւնը պիտի հարստացնէ հայերէն մանկական գրականութիւնը։ Միայն 150 հատ տպագրելու իրաւունք տրուած է հայերէնով։

Ամոս մուկն ու Պորիս կետը մտերիմ բարեկամներ են որոնք իրարու կը նմանին միայն իրենց անուշ բնաւորութեամբ ու իրենց ցեղակից ստնաւորին օգնելու յօժարութեամբ։ Զիրար կը հանդիպին երբ Ամոսը իր նաւարկութեան պահուն օգնութեան ծայրահեղ կարիք կ՚ունենայ։ Բայց իրենց բաժնուելէն ետք, երբ Պորիսը իր կեանքը կը շարունակէ ովկիանոսին մէջ մինչ Ամոսը՝ ցամաքին վրայ, օրը կու գայ երբ որ պզտիկ մուկը փութայ հսկայական կետին օգնութեան հասնիլ։

Amos & Boris was a 1971 New York Times Book Review Best Illustrated Book of the Year, Notable Children's Book of the Year, and Outstanding Book of the Year. William Steig is a beloved author due to his beautiful use of language, touching choices of subject matter, and award-winning, endearing illustrations. His family allowed Karenn Chutjian Presti to translate it into Western Armenian because she was enamored with the rich use of language and the charming storyline. William Steig never underestimated his young readers, and his story will enrich Armenian children's literature. Only 150 copies of this book were published in Armenian.

Amos the mouse and Boris the whale are a devoted pair of friends with nothing at all in common, except good hearts and a willingness to help their fellow mammal. They meet after Amos sets out to sail the sea and finds himself in extreme need of rescue. And there will come a day, long after Boris has gone back to a life at sea and Amos has gone back to life on dry land, when the tiny mouse must find a way to rescue the great whale.
