Armen Tigranian

Armen Tigranian was born in 1879 in Leninakan. He was educated in Tibilisi where he studied under the well known composer Klenovsky. When his formal training was completed in 1902, Tigranian returned to Leninakan to begin his musical career. Tigranian was responsible for the cultural growth of such cities as Kars, Baku, and Yerevan. Besides his many know works, Tigranian is famous for his two national operas. The Anoush opera and the David-Beg opera. David-Beg was Tigranian's last work, it was completed only few months before his death in 1950.
