Arch. Mesrob Ashjian
Archbishop Mesrob Ashjian, Prelate of the Eastern United States and Canada of the Armenian Apostolic Church of America, has faithfully served the Armenian Church in various capacities since his ordination in 1961. Following his graduation from the Cilician Seminary in Antelias, Lebanon, he furthered his studies at the Ecumenical Institute of Bossey, Switzerland, as well as at Princeton Theological Seminary in New Jersey, where he received a Master of Theology in 1971 and a second Master's degree in 1991. As a dedicated ecumenist, Archbishop Ashjian participated in the international Student Fellowship sponsored by the World Council of Churches and has attended conferences in Lebanon, Jordan, France, Switzerland, Ghana, Sweden, Finland, Egypt, and Odessa. He has been a member of the standing committee of the Conference of the Heads of the Oriental Orthodox Churches, and was a delegate to the World Council of Churches' Assemblies in Vancouver, British Columbia and Canberra, Australia. Most recently, he was appointed to serve on the WCC's Faith and Order Commission. His travels have taken him to every corner of the world where he has lectured and preached and met with world leaders. His published works include eleven volumes and numerous articles.
