Orphaned young Torik is taken to be raised by the boy's childless aunt and her husband. After adoptive father's death, Torik is left alone with his mother. When he grows up and time comes to form his own family, the protagonist chooses a girl from a brothel as his partner. His friends cannot accept his strange choice, but Torik is willing to do anything to forge his own happiness. 
 
«Կտոր մը երկինք» կը պատմէ Խարբերդի մէջ մեծցած որբ Թորիկի մասին։ Մօրաքրոջ և ահոր արհեստաւոր ամուսինի խնամքի տակ կը մեծնայ երկչոտ տղան՝ Թորիկը։ Ամէն ինչ խաղաղ ընթացքով կրնար երթալ, բայց Թորիկը կը մեծնայ եւ կ'ամուսնանայ հասարակաց տան աղջկայ մը հետ։ Քաղաքը չի կրնար ներել զայն, սակայն երիտասարդը յանուն իր երջանկութեան վճռականութիւն և համարձակութիւն կը ցուցաբերէ։


Henrik Malyan 
was born in Telavi, Georgia. From 1942 to 1945 he worked as a draftsman and designer at a factory in Tbilisi. In 1951 he concluded studies in film direction from the Yerevan Theatre Institute. Between 1951 and 1954, he was a director at various theaters in Armenia. In 1953, he graduated from the Moscow Theatre Institute. From 1954 on he worked with the film studio Armenfilm. His 1977 film Nahapet is considered to be one of the most important Armenian films to deal with theArmenian Genocide. It was exhibited in the 1978 Cannes Film Festival. In 1980 he founded the Henrik Malyan Theatre-Studio for stage works. In 1982 he was named a People's Artist of the USSR.
 
 
 

ARMENIAN FILM SOCIETY is a monthly event that meets on the first Friday of each month at Abril Bookstore. Lead by Armen and Mary Karaoghlanian, the evenings are composed predominantly of film screenings and discussions, with occasional lectures, workshops, classes, and other types of activities relating to film with an element of Armenian culture and/or involvement. The purpose of the film society is to bring together people of all backgrounds and expose them to the rich cinema of Armenia, as well as talented filmmakers with an Armenian background.

ARMEN KARAOGHLANIAN is a writer, filmmaker and the co-founder and editor-in-chief of Interiors, a film and architecture publication. He currently teaches film studies at Woodbury University. MARY KARAOGHLANIAN works as a producer and production manager for Interiors.
