Dr. Kirakossian has produced a unique and very valuable book. In it he has collected and published more than seventy public statements be made during his tenure as the Republic of Armenia's Ambassador to the United States of America. Arriving in Washington in November 1999, and departing more than 5 years later, in March, 2005, Dr. Kirakossian 's low of duty spanned as especially eventful period. Assuming his duties shortly after the assassination of Prime Minister Vazgen Sargisian and Speaker Karen Demirchian in the parliament building in Yerevan in October 1999, Dr. Kirakossian was at the helm of the Armenian Embassy during me Key West negotiations on the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in April, 2001 and the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States and the ensuing war oa terrorism. Dr. Kirakossian's book will be of particular interest to students, scholars and diplomats, especially Armenian and American historians of the contemporary period. Its audience will also include Armenians everywhere who are interested in the development and future of the reborn Republic of Armenia.
